2015/4/4 Sanfrecce Hiroshima 0-1 Vissel Kobe
Vissel Kobe gave manager Nelsinho his first league victory with his new team on a late goal from Keijiro Ogawa that stunned the home team and sent the away fans home in a great mood after their non-stop support throughout this rain-soaked game. In fact the weather was so bad that the match was delayed due to lightning before half time. Mr. Iemoto had taken the players off the field just after the half hour mark.
Vissel came out in a 3-2-4-1 / 3-4-3 formation, captain Jung Woo Young marshaling the central defence, flanked by Takuya Iwanami and Shohei Takahashi. Ryota Morioka was deployed at defensive midfield, alongside Masatoshi Mihara, with Daisuke Ishizu and Kazuma Watanabe supporting central forward Marquinhos - back in the starting line-up after recent games on the bench. To round off the formation we saw Shunki Takahashi and Takahito Soma as wing backs. Notable injury-enforced absentees included Michihiro Yasuda and Takahiro Masukawa.
The match began with almost constant Vissel pressure for the first five minutes but no real penetration, while the home team broke fast when the chance presented itself. Douglas tested Kaito Yamamoto in the Vissel goal from some distance in the 10th minute while, two minutes later, a low, long range free kick from Marquinhos found its way through the wall and bounced off a post into Sanfrecce keeper Hayashi's grateful arms.
In the 33rd minute a thunderstorm forced the players off the field and they returned after a 24 minute break to continue the fight. In the 38th minute a Jung free kick went wide from distance while, just before the half, a Douglas pass found Hisato Sato in space and his rising shot was spectacularly tipped over by the Vissel keeper.
The second half was end to end with both teams seeing half chances fly past the posts, while a header from Koji Morisaki hit the woodwork in the 76th minute. Just as the match seemed to be ending goalless a superb run from his own half by Pedro Junior saw him open up space and, when the tackle came in the ball fell kindly for Ogawa, who made no mistake from the edge of the area! 1-0. Three points!
