2015/4/12 Vissel Kobe 4-1 Ventforet Kofu
Vissel Kobe entertained Ventforet Kofu looking to notch up another J1 win for their Nelsinho, although, once again, changes were forced upon the Brazilian boss.
In defence, Michihiro Yasuda and Bueno and Shohei Takahashi were still out through injury, but Takahiro Masukawa had made it through 20 minutes of the Nabisco Cup match in midweek and was judged fit to return to the starting line-up. He began the game on the left of a back three, with Takuya Iwanami on the right and Jung Woo Young in the centre.
Ryota Morioka again started at defensive midfield - on his 24th birthday - alongside Masatoshi Mihara, while Shunki Takahashi and Takahito Soma were tasked with the wing play. Marquinhos, Daisuke Ishizu and Keijiro Ogawa were a very mobile and rotating front three.
The home team opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Takahashi took a through ball on the corner of the area, advanced forward and feinted to shoot before slipping it into the path of Ishizu. The former Avispa Fukuoka loanee finished with the side of his foot and Vissel were ahead!
Takahito Soma then made space for himself on the left wing in the 22nd minute and was able to send in a deep cross for Marquinhos to connect, but the keeper was quick to come out and block it for the corner.
Ogawa was foiled at point blank range in the 33rd minute, as he latched on to a through ball, but it seemed just a matter of time before Vissel doubled their lead and, sure enough, just before the break Ishizu added to his own personal tally to make it 2-0 at the break!
Minutes after the restart Ishizu was inches away from his hat trick, just failing to connect with a superb Soma cross after Vissel picked up where they had left off at the end of the half, and it wasn't long before the crimson-shirted masses did increase their lead. It was almost the Ishizu hat trick that the crowd were willing to happen but the number 9 saw his shot blocked, with the second ball falling to Mihara, running in 25 yards out, and he made no mistake from distance. 3-0!
In the 62nd minute Vissel almost had a 4th goal as Morioka advanced and, as he drew the defenders to him, he slipped the ball aside and fooled everyone, skipping past the challenges instead of passing, but his final shot was saved well by Kota Ogi in the Ventforet goal.
The 71st minute saw Pedro Junior denied with a last ditch tackle as he bore down on goal. The Brazilian substitute - on for Ishizu moments before - grabbed the ball again as it rolled free and put it into the path of his compatriot, but Marquinhos saw his shot saved well by the keeper as Ogi continued to single-handedly keep the score down.
From the resulting corner Masukawa headed inches over as Vissel threatened to run riot! And, while Ogi again foiled Pedro Junior, coming out quickly to block a shot, the ball fell to Ogawa on the corner of the area, and the diminutive forward curled in the chance with aplomb.
While it looked like Vissel would extend their lead sooner, rather than later, Adriano had other ideas and pressuring Jung in his own area, the Vissel captain lost the ball between his feet as he tried to fool the Brazilian and Adriano stole the ball and finished with ease, giving Kaito Yamamoto no chance from close range.
In additional time Jung swung in a deep free kick - after Marquinhos had been fouled - and Masukawa almost sneaked in a header at the foot of Ogi's post, the keeper again saving the day for the hapless Kofu defence and keeping the final score down to Vissel Kobe 4-1 Ventforet Kofu.
