2015/5/6 Shonan Bellmare 1-1 Vissel Kobe
An exquisite 33rd minute Marquinhos strike to give Vissel Kobe the lead was cancelled out by a penalty kick converted by Wataru Endo deep into first half stoppage time to deny the traveling Kobe all three points in this J1 First Stage matchday 10 game.
With injuries still affecting selection Kunie Kitamoto started in the middle of the back three, flanked by Takuya Iwanami and Shoheo Takahashi, Jung Woo Young returning to central midfield as Masatoshi Mihara was injured.
Ferrugem was back from injury and joined Jung in central midfield. Ryo Okui and Takahito Soma were the preferred wing backs in the 3-4-2-1 formation, while Keijiro Ogawa and Marquinhos played just behind Kazuma Watanabe, the lone all-out striker.
Marquinhos forced a save out of the home keeper in just the second minute, after being fed by Ogawa. The Brazilian then had to leave the field before ten minutes were up after a foul saw him turn his ankle quite badly, but he returned to the fray and scored that beautiful goal. It was the Vissel marksman's 150th J1 goal, and what a beauty to mark the occasion. A pass from Jung, a touch, a turn and a superb long distance shot into the corner.
Just as it seemed Vissel would go in ahead at the break, Okui was adjudged - very harshly, replays suggested - to have committed a foul on the corner of the area, Endo stepping up to convert the penalty kick.
Despite changes during the second half - Daisuke Ishizu replacing the limping Marquinhos at the start of the second period and Yosuke Tashiro coming in for Okui just after the hour mark - the home defence held out for the draw.
Performances are steady, despite the slew of injuries and, with players returning from lay-offs - hello Michihiro Yasuda, perhaps - the competition for places is a good thing in this Vissel squad.
Next up sees a home match against Shimizu S-Pulse on Saturday May 10th. Kick off 16.00 at Noevir Stadium. Be there!
