2015/8/29 Vissel Kobe 7-1 Sagan Tosu
Vissel Kobe entertained Sagan Tosu at Universiade Stadium for this J.League match and entertain is certainly the word that comes to mind as this report goes down "on paper"! SEVEN goals stunned the opposition after they had gone ahead through a Yohei Toyoda goal in the 26th minute.
With Vissel again - just as in the 1st Stage - being hit by injuries in a big way, there were changes in members, and in formation. Today the team was missing Pedro Junior, Marquinhos, Michihiro Yasuda and both Shunki and Shohei Takahashi, as Nelsinho went with a 4-4-2 formation.
It took eight minutes for the home team to get back on level terms through Kazuma Watanabe and then Leandro gave his team the lead on the stroke of half time. Leandro extended the lead to 3-1 almost immediately after the restart, pouncing on a defensive mix-up to beat Akihiro Hayashi in the Sagan goal to the ball, and nipping it over his head and into the net!
It was Takuya Iwanami's turn next as he headed home from a corner in the 53rd minute, and minutes later it was Daisuke Ishizu's turn to get on the score sheet - his first goal of the 2nd Stage - after dancing through the defenders to find his opening. 5-1 with less than an hour gone.
Ryota Morioka followed up on a saved Ishizu shot just before the hour mark to make it 6-1. Watanabe completed the scoring with his second of the game when he connected with a far post cross from Takahito Soma and headed over the keeper to make it 7-1!
Vissel manager Nelsinho then took the opportunity to give youngsters Yoshiki Matsushita, Shinji Yamaguchi and Ryosuke Maeda some time on the field as the clock wound down.
Next up it's Kashiwa Reysol in the quarter final of the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup. Can we expect more goals!?
