2015/9/12 FC Tokyo 3-0 Vissel Kobe
Vissel Kobe came home from the capital city with their tails between their legs, suffering a 3-0 defeat, so soon after dismantling Sagan Tosu for seven goals! That's football!
A Ryoichi Maeda hat trick - in the 38th, 69th and 78th minutes - probably put paid to any lingering hopes of a 2nd Stage triumph for Vissel, and now it must be time to concentrate on the Nabisco Cup and the Emperor's Cup in the search for a trophy in this campaign.
Things might well have been different if Shunki Takahashi had not vaulted the keeper's challenge in the area in the 4th minute. The diminutive right wing back beat the custodian to the ball but then refused to go down over the keeper's outstretched hands, managing to get the ball to Takahito Soma, but the left sided player's tame shot went nowhere.
Then, in the 38th minute Takuji Yonemoto cut out a pass from defence, but then took out Ryota Morioka as he was about to regain the ball. A free kick to Vissel would not have been out of order. Seconds later Maeda was putting the home team a goal up. Them's the breaks!
Perhaps Vissel knew it was not to be their day when seconds before the break Leandro made the pass of the match between three defenders to find Kazuma Watanabe, The ex-FC Tokyo forward did everything right but his side-footed shot went inches past the post with a very relieved keeper beaten.
Into the second period and Vissel still seemed to think they could get something out of the match, Morioka forcing a fine save out of the keeper in the 56th minute but Maeda laid to rest any hope Vissel might have had with his second, although his poked shot also took out Kaito Yamamoto in the away goal for good measure!
Maeda rode his luck for his third, too, but by the time his mis-hit shot trickled in at the post the match was over and Vissel were down and out.
