J1 - Mar.4, 2017 - Noevir Stadium Kobe,

Vissel Kobe raced to the upper reaches of a very early J1 table with their second win of the new campaign, taking them to a maximum six points from their season so far. Goals from Hirofumi Watanabe and Hideto Takahashi saw the home team to a well-deserved win over Albirex Niigata in front of an impressive 25,000+ crowd.

The home team took the lead in the 3rd minute when Nilton headed on a long throw from Naoyuki Fujita, which was half cleared before Kotaro Omori returned the ball low across goal and Hirofumi Watanabe poked the loose ball home off a post.

It remained 1-0 until the break but Kazuma Watanabe almost doubled to lead in the first exchanges of the 2nd half, his right foot shot hitting the bar with the 'keeper beaten. Just before the hour mark it was Watanabe again being foiled by a last ditch tackle as he broke free from the half way line.

While it seemed just a matter of time before Vissel added to their tally it was the away team who found the net against the run of play in the 75th minute. A Ryohei Yamazaki header was superbly tipped away by 'keeper Kim Seung-Gyu but Tatsuya Tanaka was on hand to slam the ball back in from an almost impossible angle to give his team hope of a point.

Vissel put paid to those hopes with a quickfire reply and a goal for substitute Hideto Takahashi with his first touch after coming on, as he shot on the turn to give his team maximum points.

Team: Kim, S.Takahashi, Iwanami, H.Watanabe, Hashimoto, Nilton (H.Takahashi, 74'), Fujita, Matsushita (Ogawa, 70'), Omori, K.Watanabe, J.Tanaka (Wescley, 78')
