2017/3/11 Vegalta Sendai 0-2 Vissel Kobe
Vegalta Sendai 0-2 Vissel Kobe
Vissel Kobe recorded their third win of the new season, and continued their 100% record alive as the 2017 campaign rolled on at Yurtec Stadium.
Goals from Kotaro Omori and Naoyuki Fujita put paid to the home team's hopes, with the first goal coming just after the restart after Vissel had patiently tried to dictate the pace of the first half. A slick move was finished off by the former Gamba Osaka midfielder with a superb blast from the edge of the area to make it 1-0 in the 46th minute.
Five minutes later Naoyuki Fujita doubled the score and finished off the home team, whose fans had gathered hoping to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami disaster with a win. Vissel Kobe put paid to those hopes but did pay respect to those affected by the tragedy with the pre-match moment of silence. This goal was another piece of class from the Vissel midfield after Omori's initial shot was blocked. Fujita advanced on the loose ball and feinted to shoot, taking out his defender before slipping the ball to the side and curling it into a narrow gap between the post and the 'keeper.
One sad note from the day was that Vissel's travelling fans had welcomed back Keijiro Ogawa to the starting line-up after a 2016 season severely curtailed through injury, but just six minutes into this match the unfortunate youngster was carried off with a shoulder injury, replaced by Yoshiki Matsushita. It was later confirmed that Ogawa would be missing for quite a while with a broken collarbone!
