Vissel Kobe 1-0 Jubilo Iwata

Vissel Kobe continued their 100% start to the 2017 campaign with this comfortable home win over Jubilo Iwata, the single goal coming from Kotaro Omori immediately after the game restarted for the second half.

The match began well for Vissel, with Kazuma Watanabe almost opening the scoring in the first attack, his header hitting the post AND the bar as he latched onto a lose ball following a long Naoyuki Fujita throw-in. Watanabe also came close with a downward header in the 14th minute, and then saw a double save forom Jubilo 'keeper Kaminski deny him four minutes later, as Vissel dictated the pace of the match., but it remained goalless at the break.

Omori put paid to the 0-0 scoreline with a moment of magic as the 2nd half began. The move began deep in the Vissel half, and Wescley took a right wing pass and moved forward and inside before slotting the ball across field for Fujita to hit the ball first time. The shot was deflected into the path of Omori by Kazuma Watanabe and the former Gamba player then proceeded to feint not once, but twice, and left three defenders on the floor around him before blasting home!

Vissel remained in control of the match, although Takuya Matsuura - just on as a sub for Jubilo - curled the ball against a post against the run of play in the 70th minute.

Yoshiki Matsushita almost doubled Vissel's lead with a bouncing volley from 30 yards out that the goalkeeper manged to tip over the bar but 1-0 was enough to keep Vissel marching onwards with that 100% record intact.

Over 17,000 mostly home fans went away happy with three points and will be supporting their men in crimson again when J1 returns after the international break with Vissel hosting Urawa Reds in what will be a big test of these early championship credentials! That game kicks off at 16.00 on April 1st - no joke! See you there!
