(J.league YBC Leaven Cup)

Vissel Kobe's second string put paid to Yokohama F.Marinos' hopes of coming out of the match with a point, or three, with goals from Shuhei Otsuki and Seigo Kobayashi sealing the win for the away team.

Vissel manager Nelsinho made myriad changes for the team's first J.league YBC Levain Cup match of the campaign, with just captain Kazuma Watanabe and defensive midfield stalwart Naoyuki Fujita the recognised 1st XI starters.

Otsuki opened the scoring in the 17th minute, moments after Junya Tanaka had come close with a scorching shot from distance, when Hideto Takahashi's perfect through ball saw the Vissel forward free and he rounded the outrushing 'keeper to slide the ball into the empty net. Vissel could have - should have - doubled their lead minutes later when Tanaka's point blank shot was saved by the goalkeeper, and then Yoshiki Matsushita's follow-up was deflected onto a post. Matsushita then had another bite but the 'keeper's heroics foiled him again!

1-0 at the break but Tanaka almost doubled the lead with a low free kick that, again, Daiichi Sugimoto in the home goal got down to tip around a post. The clinching goal eventually came in the 85th minute when Kobayashi - just on as a sub - headed home a corner at the near post!

Bring on Kashiwa Reysol in J1 on Sunday!
