Vissel Kobe 2-1 Ventforet Kofu
(J.league YBC Leaven Cup)

Vissel Kobe continued their successful, and useful, J.league YBC Levain Cup campaign - winning the game while rotating the squad - with goals from Seigo Kobayashi and Junya Tanaka, replying to an early goal from former Vissel favourite Yukio Tsuchiya, who headed home a corner in the 24th minute to give the away team a surprise lead.

Ventforet Kofu never looked like they were going to overcome their hosts in this game, even when they went ahead. In fact, Vissel racked up over 20 goal attempts, to their visitors' four. and when Kobayashi struck just before the break the goal had been coming for a long time.

Junya Tanaka - who had come on as an early substitute for Masatoshi Mihara, just after the half hour mark, so that the formation could be changed in this versatile team - was credited with the winner, although Yuya Nakasaka was given the goal initially. Whoever the goal "belonged to", Vissel took the lead, and never looked back, with over 20 minutes to go. A flowing move saw Kotaro Omori have the ball in the net - and the crowd, and stadium announcer going wild - only to see the referee give a fractional offside, but this didn't affect the final result.

Still a 100% record in the competition. Still top of the group. Still a game in hand on the closest challengers. Job done!

Team - Kim, Fujitani, Iwanami, H.Watanabe, Hashimoto, Matsushita, Mihara (J.Tanaka, 32), H.Takahashi, Kobayashi (Omori, 67), Nakasaka, Watanabe
