Yokohama F.Marinos 1-2 Vissel Kobe

VIssel Kobe came home from their trip to Yokohama F.Marinos with a well-deserved three points on goals from Hirotaka Mita and Kazuma Watanabe. The win was a come-from-behind special after Vissel had gone behind against the run of play through a goal from Cameroun international Oliver Boumal.

The first half of this match saw little of consequence happening as both teams cut and thrust, denied each other space and rarely created space outside the midfield area, but the game came alive in the 58th minute after a quick F.Marinos break saw Boumal advancing onto what seemed like a mis-hit cross and pouncing on it just before the defender. Sho Ito standing offside confused the Vissel back line but the big forward did nothing to indicate he wanted to be "in play" and was therefore not called offside. The ball was poked past the 'keeper and gave the home team a lead.

The turning point in Vissel's game came on the hour mark as Kazuma Watanabe came in as a substitute and immediately began to cause problems for the home defence. Mita scored the equaliser after a smart run down the left wing by Shuhei Otsuka and a simple tap in from a low cross put Vissel level. And it was Otsuki again 10 minutes later, taking the ball in his own half and advancing down the right channel. Kazuma ran across him and took the pass advancing into the area. His first time shot was deflected enough to put the 'keeper off and Vissel took a deserved three points! Mita had the chance to seal the points in injury time but his shot was just past the post, but that was the final kick of the match and did not matter in the big picture.
