Vissel Kobe 0-0 F.C.Tokyo

Vissel Kobe were somehow held scoreless by this FC Tokyo team that were seemingly bereft of ideas and in no mood to venture over their halfway line for much of this game. They came for a 0-0 draw and they got one but Vissel came so close to winning this one!

Lukas Podolski carved a space for himself in the 9th minute and shot over from 20 yards out - and he then noticeably winced and felt his calf muscle. This was to force him off not long after. A minute later Podsolki walked off and got some treatment, returning a few minutes later but eventually walking off around the half hour mark under his own power and straight down the tunnel and onto a plane to Germany, it seemed! Minutes after coming on a Shunki Takahashi cross almost found Wellington, but the Brazilian's jump was not quite high enough as he found himself unmarked in the centre!

Wellington put himself about whenever possible and was almost on the end of another cross - this time from the left and the boot of Theerathon - just after the restart, as Vissel looked for goals.

Leandro returned to the field in the 68th minute, after 14 months without a game, and of course, that was his second serious injury in two years. The Vissel fans welcomed him with open arms, and a nice banner!

Kunie Kitamoto was almost the unlikely hero after a well-worked free kick had confused the away defence, the centre back hitting a left foot shot on the turn that the 'keeper got down well to, to deny Vissel a deserved winner. And so the massed ranks of the FC Tokyo defence took home their point but were far from the team that has been climbing the table recently.

Team - Kim, Takahashi, Kitamoto (Nasu, 87), H.Watanabe, Theerathon, Fujita, Mita, Goke, Podolski (Wellington, 31), Otsuki, K.Watanabe (Leandro, 68)
