Vissel Kobe 3-4 Shonan Bellmare [YBC Levain Cup]
Vissel Kobe went into this Levain Cup match with the usual very-changed team, with Leandro getting another start as he works his way back to full fitness. He managed a goal, among the seven we saw tonight!
The first goal of the game was for Vissel - and it was an own goal in the end, but an excellent passing move to create the opening for Leandro and Nakasaka in the middle, with the Brazilian getting his shot in off the floor and then the ball bouncing in off a defender! 1-0. Andre Bahia then headed Bellmare level from a corner moments later, 1-1.
Minutes after the away team had equalised they were ahead on a nicely worked goal that carved through the inexperienced Vissel team to end with a subtle chip over the advancing 'keeper. 1-2. It stayed that way until the break.
For the 2nd half Daisuke Nasu replaced Kunie Kitamoto in central defence, while debutant Tatsuki Noda was replaced by Asahi Masuyama in the 54th minute. but those changes did not help as Bellmare extended their lead through Ryunosuke Noda in the 56th minute. 1-3.
With close to 20 minutes to go Leandro rose among a crowd of players to send a bullet header home from a corner. 2-3 and hope for the home fans again, but a minute later those hopes were dashed as Tsukasa Umesaki poked home from close range to make it 2-4!
Substitute Masuyama raced trough a defender in added time to smash a shot across the goalkeeper and in at the far post but it was too little, too late for Vissel, who went down 3-4 at home.
