2018/7/5 LEANDRO Leaves for Tokyo Verdy.
Vissel Kobe would like to announce the departure of a great servant to the club.
Leandro Montera da Silva was the J.League top scorer in 2016, as well as being selected to the J.League Best XI that season.
Leandro was born in 1985, on February 12th, in Sao Paolo, Brazil. He came to Japan in 2005 and had a short spell with Omiya Ardija before joining Montedio Yamagata in 2006. He first came to Vissel Kobe in 2007 and stayed until he moved to Gamba Osaka in 2008. After a spell overseas from late 2009 until mid-2012, he returned to Gamba for a season, then spent five months in Qatar in later 2013. The lure of Japan was too much and he returned to play for Kashiwa Reysol in 2014 and 2015, before returning to his spiritual home - Vissel Kobe - in July 2015. His initial spell at Vissel was extremely fruitful, with goals and awards coming thick and fast in the 2016 season, but tragedy struck at the start of the 2017 season, with a serious knee injury ending his great run. He returned briefly, before being injured again and Vissel Kobe missed his explosive pace and superb finishing while he was gone.
Leandro played 188 matches in J1, scoring 87 goals. He also played in 44 cup matches (22 goals) and 59 J2 games (36 goals.
I would like to thank all of the supporters with whom I have spent some long, happy times, as well as the hard times recently. I also thank ¥the players and all who I have shared time with at Vissel Kobe. Now I will take a different patch, and the decision to leave Vissel, where I have spent a special time in my life was very difficult. Now that I have made the decision I strongly believe that I can succeed at the next club.. I'm really thankful to all at Vissel Kobe.
