VIssel Kobe halted their recent slide but had to be content with a home draw against the bottom team as V-Varen held the hosts to a 1-1 scoreline, as Masatoshi Mihara equalised for Vissel eight minutes after his team went behind.
Andres Iniesta was deemed fit enough to start on the bench this week as the fans swarmed in to see the Spanish Magician in action, but it was young Kyogo Furuhashi who orchestrated Vissel's first chance, in just the 4th minute, as he stormed out of his own half and took the ball forward before finding the over-lapping Lukas Podolski to cross the ball low to the waiting Wellington. the goalkeeper managed to smother the chance and Vissel were denied an early opener. Within 90 seconds it was Kim Seung-gyu in the home goal who had to save from close range as the game went end-to end early on.
Takashi Sawada gave the visitors a 22nd-minute lead after taking a pass and nipping between two defenders before shooting across the 'keeper but the home team were on level terms minutes later as Masatoshi Mihara pounced on a long throw from Naoyuki Fujita that had been headed on by Wellington. 1-1 just after the half hour mark and the teams went into the break level at half time.

Iniesta finally made his appearance for the first time in three matches just before the hour was up and while the star of the show made a few nice passes and thrilled the crowd with some skill the score remained 1-1 for a share of the points at the final whistle. Vissel also lost Theerathon to a late red card for an uncontrolled challenge from the tired left back. There was nothing malicious is the tackle, but it was late and there could be no real complaint from the home team about the decision.
And so to the international break, and some time for the new manager to get to know his players better before the difficult away match against league leaders Kawasaki Frontale on October 20th.
